We had a worksheet to do in Contemporary Issues today concerning the Omaha World-Herald. I began reading, and I stumbled across an interesting article called the world's cat dies at age 8. It sounds a little off, but it was actually very interesting to see just what can make the news now-a-days. The cat's name was said to be Stewie. Stewie was a domestic Maine Coon cat whose owner was Robin Hendrickson. Stewie broke this record back in 2010 when he/she (wasn't specified) was placed in the Guinness World Record book. Stewie replaced Leo, who was recorded at at 48 inches long. Leo died several years ago, reasons unstated. Stewie was 48.5 inches long, just over four foot. He was measured from the tip of her/his nose, to the tip of her/his tail. Stewie was diagnosed with cancer about a year ago, after her/his tremendous battle has finally passed away. Stewie actually has a Facebook page, and many Facebook users stopped by his/her page to leave memories and comments about Stewie. Stewie died at 8 year old.
Can you believe it? A cat over 4 foot long. I personally an skeptical. In fact, I've never seen a cat longer than probably a foot, you know, the normal cat length. If fact, had there not been a picture, I probably wouldn't have believed it. Suppose if you had a cat that started to exceed its normal length, or had a cat that long, would you be worried? I don't know, something different, and something to think about.
