Missing Australian Teen Found

Two months ago, teenager, Matthew Allen, 18, went missing from his home. He went missing during the day Sydney, Australia was had a record high temperature. He was found alive in a bushland close to his home. It is believed that he had been there the whole two months. They say he was suffering from exhaustion and dehydration. When he was found by two hikers, he was covered in leeches and had several mosquito bites. His lower legs were also suffering from gangrene which is when your body tissues begin to decompose from a bacterial infection.  Matthew was also suffered from significant weight loss and also partial blindness. According to ABC News, when Matthew was found he said that he had survived from living of the water from a creek bed not too far from him. They also said that detectives have not yet been able to speak to him about the event to find out what exactly happened and why he was out there.
I found it so crazy that they actually found Matthew alive! He had been out there for two months with nothing to eat and drinking water from a nearby creek. I think that he is really lucky that he had survived this whole thing. I also wonder how nobody had found him earlier than that because the article had said he was found not to far from his home. I also found it weird that in the article it said the Matthew had not brought his phone or anything with him when he went out. Most teenagers bring their phone with them no matter where they go so I just thought it was odd. If you would like to view more of this article you can visit

  1. That's amazing. I wonder how he could live that long on only water, and I agree, I wonder why nobody found him sooner if he was that close to his house. I also wonder if he knew he was that close to his house, and if he did, why didn't he try to go back? Or was he too ill to walk and go back to his house?

  2. This news to the parents must have been a relief. I'm wonder how he was able to survive with all the bacteria, the infections, and the leeches.

  3. Wow didn't they say he wasn't far from his house? Why wouldn't he just go home I don't get that. Especially after being there for two months. How was he able to stay there that long and not know where he was? I wanna know how he survived all that.
