Cell Phones Causing Cancer

Scientists have recently done studies that have linked some cancers to cell phones. Cell phones give off a radiofrequency energy which is a form of electromagnetic radiation which can be absorbed bye your skin which can lead to cancer in the area in which your cell phone is held. The amount of radiofrequency energy depends on the technology of the phone you have. According to the Cellular Telecommunications and Internet Association the number of people who use cell phones has increased rapidly in the past three years. Also, the number of cell phone calls per day, the length of each call, and the amount of time people use cell phones has increased quite a bit too. Scientist also concluded that young infants and children are more likely to be affected by the radio frequency energy waves that cell phones give off since their bones are still developing and maturing. Their bones and skull are not as developed as a full grown adults would be.
I personally think that carrying your cell phone in your pocket may be harmful to you but only in the long run. If you constantly keep your phone in the same spot it could effect that area more rapidly.  But I personally think that this should be something for people to freak out about. Most people like to overreact to things like this but my opinion is that cell phones may only harm you in the long run.

  1. I learned about this in Health last semester. I'm scared that if you leave your phone in the same place for too long that it can be dangerous. I also learned (and anyone else in Health last semester) that you should sleep with you phone charging in the other room for the same reasons, what do you feel about that?

  2. I am in Health now and we we're taking about this the other day. I am not to worried about it because I think that the scientist needed something to spend some time researching something about and they came up with this. I am not going to lose any sleep over my phone in my pocket too long or my phone on the charger charging by my bed charging all night. Anymore I think that just about everything can lead to cancer some sort of cancer. Does anyone else feel the same as me?

  3. I agree that it is dangerous to have your phone on you but its not something that Im going to take into concern because now a days almost anything and everything can cause cancer. I heard about a lady that always kept her phone in her bra and then developed cancer in the spot she kept her phone. I think that sleeping with your phone charging in a different room is a lot to ask, especially with teenagers. I also think that the cell phone connected with cancer rate has gone up recently is because people use their phones a lot more than they did a couple of years ago. Now people do everything on their phones. It most people their phone is their one thing they can not live with out because they use it for so many different things.

  4. I was also In Health last semester, and we talked about cancer caused by cell phones. I know that when you buy a cell phone, it states in all those papers that there is a risk of getting cancer. I think that many people know probably know the risk that cell phones come with, but they think their cell phone is so vital that they don't care about the consequences. When we learned about it in health, it scared me a little. It made me think twice about carrying my cell phone around everywhere and now I don't charge it right by my head at night.

  5. I believe that cancer can be caused by using your phone or having it in the same place to long. It doesn't bother me to much at this moment. To a lot of teenagers it is a need to have a phone. Us teenagers don't care as of right now. I Sleep with my phone beside me every night and charging. Along with every other person in the world.
