Oscar Pistorius who has had both of his legs amputated and who is an Olympic Participant has recently murdered his longtime girlfriend. I read an article about how his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, who was a model and about to be in a TV series, being shot several times by him. Oscar had thought that Reeva was an intruder which wasn't uncommon for where they lived. Since he had thought she was an intruder he decided to shoot the gun at the person who he had thought came into the house to attack him. He shot the gun several times and of those shots he had hit Reeva with three. Reeva had died from the shots and the cops found her body in a pool of blood.
If you lived in a bad neighborhood and didn't know if the person coming into your house was a person you knew, would you have shot them? In his defense I don't know where he lives or how bad it is there, but I wouldn't open fire on someone coming into my house until I had known if the person was someone I knew or not. What do you think?
Oscar was a sensation at the last Paralympics and it is hard to believe someone that has worked so hard and accomplished so much do something like this. I'm not saying what he did was right, but what if he really thought that the person was an intruder? That is really hard to put yourself in his shoes.
One of Oscar's coaches said, “It was the way he handled his disability with such character and discipline. It is a big shock for everyone.” His coach also described him as a national icon, I wonder what his coach thinks now.
Oscar is guilty of murder. However do you think that he thought the person entering his house was an intruder and that the shooting was an accident? Or do you believe that for some reason he did this on purpose? I honestly don't know what to think about the situation.

It's so strange to go from seeing this man running in the Olympics to being a murderer. I don't get how someone that has everything going for them, especially since he's a paralympic, can commit a crime so brutal. I've been keeping posted about this with the news and the whole case is going up and down. One person will say one thing, and another person changes the whole story again. Pistorious was saying that he heard someone in his house and grabbed a gun to go protect his girlfriend. He then heard a gun shot and was too late. The strange thing was that Pistorious never said anything about hearing his girlfriend. If someone were to shoot her, you would've heard her make a noise of some sort. His story just doesn't add up. Hopefully all of the facts come up and this whole case is resolved. It's so sad to see an Olympic runner be described as having great character, to now, being a murderer.
ReplyDeleteI don't think that this was self defense because if it was an intruder, they probably would of had a weapon on them too. Since it was his girlfriend I wonder how he feels about it and knowing that he's the one that killed her.
