Hot air balloon explodes in Egypt

Tuesday,  February 26, a hot air balloon flying over Egypt's ancient city of Luxor caught on fire and came crashing down 1,000 feet in the air. The hot air balloon crashed into a sugar cane field and killed at least 19 foreign tourists. The crash was one of the most deadliest hot air balloon accidents. The people who died include French, British, Belgian, Hungarian, Japanese nationals and nine tourists from Hong Kong. There was only three survivors from the crash. They were two British tourists and the Egyptian pilots were taken to a local hospital, but one of the Britons later died because of their injuries. Egypt's civil aviation minister, Wael el-Maadawi, suspended hot air balloon flights and flew to Luxor to lead the investigation into the crash. They said that the cause of the crash was a stuck cable which ignited a fire within the hot air balloon. This caused the hot air balloon to explode and crash to the ground. The hot air balloon was carrying 21 people at the time.

I think this would be so scary if this happened to me. It is amazing that those two people survived the one thousand foot fall! I hope this does not happen to one of my friends who is going to Arizona next month. I have not heard a lot about this ever happening in the United States.
