Gunman wounds man at St. Louis school

On Tuesday, January 15, a former part-time student at Stevens Institute of Business and Arts shot a man in the chest before shooting himself. They believe that his intents appeared to be targeted because he came in searching for the man. Although, this event cause a chaotic scene with the students in a frenzy to find protection from the horrifying sounds that they must have heard in the building. The police quickly found both bodies and rushed to a hospital where a doctor says they should both make a full recovery but specific details were not released to the public. I personally think that something should be done about the safety of all of our school in America because situations like this one have been happening way too often across the country. I know that if I had a child in school I would want something done about the situation. I understand that it would be hard to control, but I think it is necessary to take some safety precautions for our children.

  1. I agree with you. It would be a horrific sound to hear a gun shot outside your classroom. Yes something needs to be done because this is becoming a common occurrence and it is getting way too frightening, people should not have the mind set that they want to kill people. I sure don't want to have to worry about my kids school getting shot down someday.

  2. Something needs to be done instead of just broadcasting this. I think that's why so many occurances have been happening. I think the red card drill we had yesterday is a start to what we could do in our school, but if they want to try and really protect us, they are going to have to make some modifications.

  3. Obviously just broadcasting isn't doing anything. There has been a huge outburst of gun problems in the United States lately. Just taking away guns isn't going to do anything, because if somebody wants a gun they will search until they find one. As citizens I am very nervous that something like this could happen in our district.

  4. You wonder what triggers the madness. We all are confused and just want answers. We haven't had answers because they end up shooting themselves. I don't want to imagine having it happen at our school. Do you feel armor guards are in our future?

  5. We've had many public shootings, It is as if people are losing their sanity over time, it is scary to think that the next shooting could be in your area, or one of the district high schools. You'd be lucky to be in a different room from the shooter, at least you would have time to escape and call for help, but most people are so terrified they can't even move, or are afraid to move.
