Earlier this week, the pop sensation singer, Justin Bieber, was caught photographed with marijuana or some other kind of drug. Many fans have started to react to the pictures causing up rages throughout the country. Bieber was also photographed drinking. He is a Canadian citizen, so he can drink in his home country, because the drinking age is lower, but was photographed in California. After the pictures were seen online, a site called 4Chan started a 'hoax' about what to do to get Bieber's attention.
The anonymous writer posted "Tweet a bunch of pics of people cutting themselves and claim we did it because Bieber was smoking weed.. See if we can get some little girls to cut themselves". After word spread, the Twitter and Facebook world became involved, and the hashtag #cutforbieber started trending all over. Pictures of girls cutting themselves until Justin would stop using drugs surfaced. Many of the pictures surfacing on Twitter and Facebook were of fake or old pictures, but captions on the pictures read something like "We'll stop cutting when you stop doing drugs" or "It hurt so bad, but I did it for Justin".
I think the whole situation is terrible. I don't understand why someone would joke about cutting themselves, because a lot of people are dealing with self harm. Maybe new pictures didn't surface online, but I'm sure there are at least a few fans that had cut themselves after they heard of the situation. 4Chan was also part of the same trending hashtag that surfaces last fall, in an attempt to get girls to shave their heads because Bieber had 'cancer'. What do you guys think of the situation?
I don't think it's Bieber's fault that his emotionally disturbed fans are cutting themselves over him drinking and smoking weed. Although it's wrong to smoke and drink, he's 18 and should be able to make decisions for himself. Obviously it's terrible for the person/people who started this whole 'Cut for Bieber' thing to start it, but I just hope Justin Bieber's fans are smarter than that!
ReplyDeleteI think this is totally ridiculous. Why would anyone cut themselves for any reason? I understand that Justin Bieber is kind of a big deal but honestly why would you cause yourself harm for some guy who doesn't even know you and you have not that much knowledge of him anyway? I personally enjoy Justin Bieber but I would never in a million years cut myself for anything as stupid as this. I must admit, my friends and I have been making fun of this trending topic because it is so stupid. I feel that the girls who actually did this and the guy, 4Chan, are stupid and they need to get off of their high Bieber horses and see that there's more to life than a Canadian singer. I would like to add that I had read somewhere on the news or some thing that it said the photo was fake and it was't actually Justin smoking the weed.
ReplyDeleteI think this is just beyond ridiculous. Cutting isn't something to be joking about or making fun of. I do think is was very wrong of Justin Bieber to be doing things like smoking weed and drinking alcohol underage. He has to know how many young fans he has and how this would effect them. But Justin's fans really need to calm down. There is no need to cut yourself just because your favorite singer got caught smoking weed and drinking. It shouldn't effect your health and well-being. It should only effect his!
ReplyDeleteHow stupid can you be? I mean, no offense, but cutting yourself for a famous person? That's ridiculous! I understand that people have problems and deal with lots of stress, and some teens turn towards cutting. I think that is completely different from cutting for Bieber. It's one thing when you have a 'disorder', but it's another to cut because you saw someone doing something bad. Whoever the person was that started this, in my opinion, had to have experienced people that cut or others of that nature. I'm not saying that these people are bad, but I'm pretty sure everyone could deal with Bieber's incident a little better than by cutting themselves.
ReplyDeleteI think that his fans have no right to out that pressure on Justin. He's a teenage boy, and he'll make mistakes. Cut for Beiber is just more pressure on him. He doesn't deserve that. I feel like all this is just not fair for him.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if anyone has died from cutting themselves. I would like to know if why anybody would be so obsessed with someone that they would actually cut themselves for him. Why do you think people care so much about what Justin Beiber does and doesn't do?
I just think the whole thing is stupid. If Justin Bieber wants to do that stuff, let them be his mistakes. People shouldn't make their own mistakes because of it. Why would you cut yourself for somebody who doesn't even know you exist? Why would you cut yourself for any reason at all, actually? There are much better ways to handle these situations.

There should not be people on the internet trying to talk people into doing crazy things like this. Sure, some people are going to believe it, but still they should not be allowed to do such a thing. Personally, i'm more upset about the innocent kids, teens, and maybe even crazed adults cutting themselves all because some people thought that it would be funny to start something and see whst it turns into. That's plain ridiculous. It just makes me sick to my stomach. There are so many better ways to handle situations like these. The internet is getting out of conrol. Don't you think?

You shouldn't be pretending to cut yourself because one, it's just down-right wrong and two, people who actually cut themselves may feel offended by this just because girls are doing it to get a celeb's attention and those girls may actually need help for the problems they have. And they see girls are doing it just for fun..? There's something wrong with this picture...
ReplyDeleteThere are so many things happening involving the internet these days and I think this is a negative thing thats being put out there. Little kids, young teenagers, and kids our age can see it and they respond to it. What is becoming of this world?! It surely can't be good if things like this are happening.
As for the Bieber situation, I myself used to admire him but he's been hanging with the wrong people lately so wouldn't you think that other people should notice that to and stop obsessing over him...? You would sure think so but of course they don't.
I think this is stupid. Why would anyone harm themselves over a famous person? I mean they aren't going to change what they do or quit what they are doing because you hurt yourself. I would never ever think of hurt myself because of a famous person. I don't think him drinking is a big deal because most of the people in high schoil drink now a days. I think people shouldn't put themselves in harm for someone like Justin Bieber. I think that Justin Bieber should have been smarter though, also. He is always being watched and needs to realize that people are going to know his every move. As you can see, people are that obsessed with Justin Bieber to believe any of that cut for bieber stuff. I think this whole deal is very ridiculous, and the person that started this rumor needs to be punished. I think Justin Bieber needs to be careful on who he is with, and what he surrounds himself in, as well.
ReplyDeleteI think this whole situation is really stupid and it shouldn't have happened to start with. People need to stop being so involved in celebrities lives especially by harming themselves, even though some of them weren't real. They need to get over their celebrity obsessions. It was really stupid of Justin to do this also, mainly because he knows how many people look up to him in society, especially younger kids. If you're wanting to be famous you really should expect to be seen and take responsibility for your actions. I also don't think it was right of 4Chan to do what they did either because it is a very serious problem in our world. Do you think it was right for Bieber to do this?
ReplyDeleteI agree that this whole "Cut for Bieber" thing is not fair to Justin. I'm not saying it's okay, but a lot of people drink underage and may experiment with marijuana, and him doing the same thing a million other people are doing is no reason to cut yourself! It's his life. Not yours. There a million people who suffer from depression and cut themselves for real problems, so teenage girls cutting themselves for Bieber is offensive to the people are really actually depressed. Bieber shouldn't have done that, but I really don't think differently of him at all. He is an actual human being that makes mistakes. These girls need to get over themselves.
ReplyDeleteI think the whole situation is just ridiculous, you don't even know Justin Bieber personally and you harm yourself for him, I found out my past girlfriend smoked marijuana, and yes it did hurt me severely but cutting doesn't help, It distracts your emotional pain with physical pain, I suggest having a good cry, but the Bieber incident is crossing the line, you are practically cutting for no reason, I'm against the practice of cutting, the result is just not worth it.

ReplyDeleteThis is the stupidest thing I've ever heard of. So what Biebs got caught smoking pot, but its not worth cutting yourself for. People didn't go jumping bridges when Charlie Sheen had his ordeal with cocaine.
