On Jan. 3 in Early, Iowa a farmer, Gary Schramm had pulled over expecting to help a car that had slid into the ditch but, was not expecting to find a woman being kidnapped and a criminal that had ran as soon as he approached the vehicle.
The criminal was Kirk Levlin and the woman was Jessica Vega. Levlin had just gotten out of jail in Wisconsin before coming back to Early were his mother, Marilyn Schmitt, lived. Levin came back to Early and killed his mother with a belt and a knife, Schmitt was choked and stabbed.
After Levlin killed his mom he went to Storm Lake to "meet" up with an old friend, Vega. Vega was surprised to see Levlin after so many years. Levlin asked Vega if she could give him a ride home because his car had broke down, Vega agreed to give him a ride. Levlin lead Vega to a old barn and had told her that he wanted to show her something so Vega said he had to make it quick because she had to get to work. Levlin took her in the barn and tied her up with a rope and told her he was kidnapping her. After Levlin tied her up he threw her in the car and took off. This is where they went in the ditch.
Vega was saved by Schramm and Levlin was found in a barn where he was arrested for murder and kidnapping. He was also planning on raping Vega but slid into the ditch before anything could happen.
I read about this in the newspaper, why would anyone wanna do something like this and especially him after he had just gotten out of jai and then has to go to jail again. My opinion on this is that he must like being in jail, because right after he had gotten out of jail he kills his mom and kidnaps a girl from Storm Lake and tries to rape her. If it wasn't for that farmer that girl could've gotten raped and possibly killed. Thanks to that farmer the girl is safe and Levlin is back in trail again for the 5-6 time. Levlin went to jail when he was 17 for burglary and now he's going to end up going to jail again for murder and kidnapping. What would anyone else have done if they were to see this happen?
ReplyDeleteI herd about this on the news, but I don't understand why he would kidnap a friend and kill his mom when he just got out of jail. You think whatever reason he was in jail he would of learned his lesson the first time, but then he goes and kills his mom and kidnaps his friend. He must like living in jail! What would you of done if you would of drove up to help someone get out of the ditch and this happens?
ReplyDeleteI think this guy has a screw missing. He must really like prison because right after he gets out he goes and kills his mom and kidnaps his friend just to be sent back to jail. I think he should stay there for the rest of his life if he likes it so much.
ReplyDeletei have also herd about him on the news. My mom and I were in Sac City the day after they arrested him and we went to the police station to talk to a cop. There was only one cop there, the others were with Levlin. It was a very scary idea to know that we were in the same building as someone who murdered his mother and kidnapped a young lady and was planning on raping her. That is scary!!
ReplyDeleteMy reaction to the article is wow....she is a very lucky girl but I wish I could say the same for the mom. It is so sad and twisted that he killed his mom. A fact that is even scarier is that we all don't think that these things can happen in close towns. We all just imagine New York having these kind of situations. I guess the small towns aren't safe anymore either. I also wonder what possessed him to do this horrible thing.
