You might not think of the supermarket as a big deal. But after losing their only grocery store to a fire more than three years ago Correctionville residents had to learn to do without. Normally, when you're in the grocery store, you probably don't like to wait. But after those years passed by without a local grocery store Correctionville residents were actually excited to wait for this moment. A lot of people drove to Sioux City to get groceries, which is a long way.
After the groundbreaking in April, the store came together quickly. The owners estimate hundreds of volunteers donated thousands of hours to create the new building. Customers agree one of the best features of the new 6,000 square foot facility is the produce section. It's about four times larger than the old one used to be. Now, people will have the chance to get that, and her groceries, seven days a week. The new grocery store created about a dozen new jobs in the community. After cutting the ribbon, the owners, Mark and Dawn McCrea, honored the old landowners, by making them their honorary first customers!
What do you think of the new Grocery store in Correctionville.... I think it'd would be a very nice thing to have in a town.
I think it is a good thing to have a grocery store back in Correctionville. I go camping at little Sioux park about two miles from there and it will be nice if we forgot something we can go get it. Its also good because it created jobs in the community. Its sad the old one burned down but now they have brand new bigger one.
ReplyDeleteI think this is a good idea for Correctionville to have a grocery store back in town. This could bring more people to the town. Now no one has to leave town to go grocery shopping. This brought more opportunities to the little town.
