The poem "My New Best Friend" by Kimberly Kirberger is a poem about how the best friendship is with yourself.  At the beginning of the poem you would think that it involves two people, but at the end you learn that it only involves one.

The poem has a rhyming pattern, in each stanza, the lines 2 and 4 rhyme.  In the first stanza, the mood is cheerful because when you meet a new friend that is interested in you, you are very excited.  In the second stanza, the mood is kind because she listened to her life problems and dreams.  In the third stanza, the mood is accepted because she never judged her and accepted the way she is.  In the fourth stanza, the mood is patient because she didn't interrupt her or leave.  In the last stanza, the mood is shocked because when she went to give her friend a hug she found out, that it was just a mirror.

I think the poem is about a girl that has no friend, found a girl in her room and sat down and talked to each other.  They talked about her problems and dreams.  The girl listened and didn't judge her when she talked about the problems she dealt with.  She was very patient and didn't interrupt and didn't leave.  She wanted to hug her but she found out that it was only a mirror.

I liked this poem because I relate to it.  When I moved to Odebolt, I didn't feel accepted and I was scared.  I would stay at home and talk to myself in my room because I didn't have many friends.  In the third stanza, the phrase "all the problems I'd been dealt",  I relate to it because when I moved here I had a lot of social problems.  Thant is why I enjoyed this poem.
