Poem Analysis-My Hero-By Keri

My poem analysis of "My Hero" by Keri starts at a dark time.  Everybody has gone, or will go, through some sort of dark time in their life.  I believe the hero in this poem had helped the author get through a struggle and now holds a special place in the author's heart.

As it says,

"You helped me see the light.
When I had no eyes,
You saved me, and you were my sight."

Also, with that being said, it is clear that the hero in this poem made an impact on the author's life as well.  To prove this opinion, a stanza was written that says,

"But friend, I tell you, you are a hero."

There was a little blurp above the poem that mentioned what the poem was described as for the author and to whom she dedicated the poem to, and what the purpose of creating this poem was all about.  It says the author wrote the poem "describing how I feel about certain people in my life.  This poem is dedicated to all those unsung heroes out there who don't consider themselves a hero, yet people in their life do."

I chose this poem because while I was reading it, someone special, who also doesn't consider herself to be a hero, came acrossed my mind. That was my mom.

My family and I, two months ago, went through what we were all wishing would be a terrible nightmare-but it wasn't.  That was a DARK time in our life.  Even though I had lost my dad, my mom lost her best friend, her soulmate, her husband.  During the time my mom should have been grieving the loss, she was busy doing business with our landlords and making plans for a farm sale, as well as meeting with her lawyer.  We were living in a whirlwind, and even though I was blessed to face the fact that it would be a while before I see my dad, she couldn't.  She was given no time to grieve.  Instead she would wipe my eyes, and give me comfort, but I don't think she ever felt what I felt.  She was just so strong through it all!  That to me, is being a hero-having someone go though the same situation as you, but while you're crying, they're wiping your tears and giving you strength.  My mom is definitely considered to be "My Hero."
