Deep Self-written Poetry
This poem to me is a testament to the constant
defeating nature of life. It will constantly put you down and beat the crap out
of you. He talks about being “used, abused and thrown aside” such as say a boss
using his hard work to climb the corporate ladder, or maybe a girlfriend using
him for reasons of her own or countless other ways to think of it. He talks about
wanting to rest about just going to sleep, or suicide as the case may be. But
he says “Get up! Get up! No time to rest.” Like saying that suicide is the easy
way out and life is too hard for that. He speaks nearly constantly of life
trying to knock you down.
However he talks about getting up after getting
knocked down. He tells you that life will do everything in its power to destroy
you but you can’t let it destroy you, he talks about straightening out his head
and I think of that as keeping his mind on the right track, and not letting
life corrupt his values.
“Failure is nothing, But a brick in the wall,
Because when it all comes down, It takes a real man to fall.”
Standing tall all through life is easy when
everything goes your way. You know that you are a real man when you are able to
stand proud in your life despite life’s attempts to knock you down. When you
can spit in life’s rotten face and say “Go ahead buddy, give it your best shot,
‘cause I’m not going anywhere.
Or at least that’s my interpretation.
