Poetry Analysis

Life

I celebrate myself, and sing myself
and what I assume you shall assume
For every atom belonging to me
as good belongs to you.

Walt Whitman

The author is talking about life.  When the author says "I celebrate myself and sing myself" I think he means you should be happy with the way you are.  I agree with him because you should always be happy with yourself.  The author says "what I assume you shall assume."  I think that means you should think alike and have the same ideas someone else has.  I disagree with him because you should think on your own and voice your opinions.  The author says "for every atom belonging to me as good belongs to you."  What I think the author is trying to say is that for every atom in him is a piece of good.  It was a good poem and I enjoyed it.
