Never Ending Rain by Kristi Maxim
The poem under analysis is taken from the compilation of works by Kristi Maxim. With regards to Never Ending Rain, it has a rhyme with lines three and five. In every stanza there is the same rhyme scheme. The simile it’s almost like a never ending rain means that it is just a miserable not fun time. First of all, the poet hints at the struggle she’s having with her brother. Therefore, people can relate to this even if it is a sister or break-up. The author really emphasizes how much siblings really do mean to people. You may have your fights and arguments, but they will always love you.
The saying “Never Ending Rain” is a very powerful saying to me because it is sounding like a miserable time but it can be days or weeks before it works out. Some things have to get worse before they can get better. Everybody has miserable days but we all come together to make it better. There will always be those people in your life who will put a smile on your face everyday no matter what happens. Another saying I found interesting was “all I can do is shed the tears.” I relate to this saying because when I am upset or have a lot of things on my plate I will cry. I feel it is normal for people to cry when they are having a rough time in their lives. I feel as if it is very hard for somebody to stop crying once you start.
Another saying I found interesting was “the fear of being detached.” When people get attached then all of a sudden something happens, they are apart from each other and it hurts both of them very much. Even if it is a girlfriend and boyfriend or if it’s sisters or even brother and sister. It is a very hard situation when you are with that person all day every day then you aren’t with them at all. It can even be death, I lost a cousin out of nowhere. It was a very hard time for me because he and I were so close. I found myself crying and writing him a letter, even though he won’t get it. The last thing I found was “you can feel it inside.” You can tell it is a very hurtful thing when you can feel it inside. This means that it is a big giant thing not just a little minor thing hurting you. It can mean a life changing thing to you or a group of people. It can be as little as a setback in life or a totally new obstacle.
This poem really meant a lot to me because it defines who is really there for me. Even though my siblings and I fight, I will always love them! They are the ones who comfort me when I’m down. We also have fun when we are on vacation. There is never a dull moment in my house. Even though my sister is at college, and my brother is leaving next year, we are constantly talking.
