Cruelty of the chained dog
By Krysta Wagner
This poem is about a dog which is chained and feelings about telling his owners, from when they first got him until now.
The author uses first person (dog) point of view. He uses imagery like the reader can visualize the dog chained and the way is used to be like when he was a puppy they played with him. and the way it is now like he is gowen up and they don't have time for him anymore .The author kind of use personification because the dog is thinking and talking aloud.
The technical part of the poem has a rhyming scheme is A,B,B,C,D,E,E,F,G. This poem starts out with a question, and the poem ends with a statement. It uses monologue of the dog talking about the owners treating him to tell the story.. The overall mood is sad. What the dog expected at first was not what was happening to him now.
I think this poem can be related to cruel owners and lazy owners. It is always, fun and cute to get a new dog, But when it comes the work, people don’t want it anymore. As a dog owner, the poem struck me as sad and even depressing. I also learned from the poem on how to treat my dogs.
In conclusion, I really like the poem. It was easy to understand it really conveyed the message it meant to say. It related the mistreatment of dogs well for anyone to understand. The poetic did a really good job expressing the feelings of a dog in response to owners who don’t care about animals.
