Poem Analayis

The title of the poem was “Until We Again  Rendezvous“ and was written by Udiah. The poem starts out as “This life has now passed away” I think the author is talking about how something big in his life is now gone so he will be dramatically changed. “They are with the Lord today” I think the author is talking about maybe his parents or some really close friends have died and are in heaven now. “Enjoying a better life anew” the author is implying that where they are now is better than where they were here. “Their memory shall we carry through” the author is saying how they will never be forgotten. “Until we again rendezvous” means until we meet again when I die. So to sum the poem up and make it short. Someone important in the author’s life has died, they are now in heaven and are living a better life there then they were here. He will remember the people that died forever until he dies and then after he dies he will meet them in heaven.

JustinSane's deep self written poetry

JustinSane

Deep Self-written Poetry

This poem to me is a testament to the constant defeating nature of life. It will constantly put you down and beat the crap out of you. He talks about being “used, abused and thrown aside” such as say a boss using his hard work to climb the corporate ladder, or maybe a girlfriend using him for reasons of her own or countless other ways to think of it. He talks about wanting to rest about just going to sleep, or suicide as the case may be. But he says “Get up! Get up! No time to rest.” Like saying that suicide is the easy way out and life is too hard for that. He speaks nearly constantly of life trying to knock you down.
However he talks about getting up after getting knocked down. He tells you that life will do everything in its power to destroy you but you can’t let it destroy you, he talks about straightening out his head and I think of that as keeping his mind on the right track, and not letting life corrupt his values.
“Failure is nothing, But a brick in the wall, Because when it all comes down, It takes a real man to fall.”
Standing tall all through life is easy when everything goes your way. You know that you are a real man when you are able to stand proud in your life despite life’s attempts to knock you down. When you can spit in life’s rotten face and say “Go ahead buddy, give it your best shot, ‘cause I’m not going anywhere.
Or at least that’s my interpretation.

Cruelty of the chained dog
By Krysta Wagner
This poem is about a dog which is chained and feelings about telling his owners, from when they first got him until now.
The author uses first person (dog) point of view. He uses imagery like the reader can visualize the dog chained and the way is used to be like when he was a puppy they played with him. and the way it is now like he is gowen up and they don't have time for him anymore .The author kind of use personification because the dog is thinking and talking aloud.
The technical part of the poem has a rhyming scheme is A,B,B,C,D,E,E,F,G. This poem starts out with a question, and the poem ends with a statement. It uses monologue of the dog talking about the owners treating him to tell the story.. The overall mood is sad. What the dog expected at first was not what was happening to him now.
I think this poem can be related to cruel owners and lazy owners. It is always, fun and cute to get a new dog, But when it comes the work, people don’t want it anymore. As a dog owner, the poem struck me as sad and even depressing. I also learned from the poem on how to treat my dogs.
In conclusion, I really like the poem. It was easy to understand it really conveyed the message it meant to say. It related the mistreatment of dogs well for anyone to understand. The poetic did a really good job expressing the feelings of a dog in response to owners who don’t care about animals.

Never Ending Rain by Kristi Maxim

Never Ending Rain by Kristi Maxim
The poem under analysis is taken from the compilation of works by Kristi Maxim.  With regards to Never Ending Rain, it has a rhyme with lines three and five.  In every stanza there is the same rhyme scheme.  The simile it’s almost like a never ending rain means that it is just a miserable not fun time.  First of all, the poet hints at the struggle she’s having with her brother.  Therefore, people can relate to this even if it is a sister or break-up.  The author really emphasizes how much siblings really do mean to people.  You may have your fights and arguments, but they will always love you.
The saying “Never Ending Rain” is a very powerful saying to me because it is sounding like a miserable time but it can be days or weeks before it works out.  Some things have to get worse before they can get better.  Everybody has miserable days but we all come together to make it better.  There will always be those people in your life who will put a smile on your face everyday no matter what happens.  Another saying I found interesting was “all I can do is shed the tears.”  I relate to this saying because when I am upset or have a lot of things on my plate I will cry.  I feel it is normal for people to cry when they are having a rough time in their lives.  I feel as if it is very hard for somebody to stop crying once you start.
Another saying I found interesting was “the fear of being detached.”  When people get attached then all of a sudden something happens, they are apart from each other and it hurts both of them very much.  Even if it is a girlfriend and boyfriend or if it’s sisters or even brother and sister.  It is a very hard situation when you are with that person all day every day then you aren’t with them at all.  It can even be death, I lost a cousin out of nowhere.  It was a very hard time for me because he and I were so close.  I found myself crying and writing him a letter, even though he won’t get it.  The last thing I found was “you can feel it inside.”  You can tell it is a very hurtful thing when you can feel it inside.  This means that it is a big giant thing not just a little minor thing hurting you.  It can mean a life changing thing to you or a group of people.  It can be as little as a setback in life or a totally new obstacle.
This poem really meant a lot to me because it defines who is really there for me.  Even though my siblings and I fight, I will always love them!  They are the ones who comfort me when I’m down.  We also have fun when we are on vacation.  There is never a dull moment in my house.  Even though my sister is at college, and my brother is leaving next year, we are constantly talking.

Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein

The poem that I am doing an analysis about is Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein.  In the poem I feel that Silverstein addresses people in general. There is repetition present throughout the poem, the phrase, when the sidewalk ends, is repeated many times through the poem. There is some end rhyme present throughout the poem but in each stanza it is not the same. For example in stanza one the end rhyme is end, begins, white, bright, flight, and wind (ABCCCA) then in stanza two the end rhyme is black, bends, grow, slow, go, and ends (ABCCCB).  So the end rhyme is kind of the same just the last word rhymes with the first word  in stanza one then the second word in stanza two. Finally, in stanza three the end rhyme is slow, go, knows, and ends. I feel the mood of the first stanza is happy then the second stanza is depressing. I think the mood of the third one is helpful.
I feel that Silverstein uses the word choice that he does to create a very visual picture in people’s minds as they read this poem. I think that he is saying that we all need to get away from the darkness in our lives, and move toward the brighter place. The bright place could be many different things like seeking help for an addiction, but to me it represents heaven. The dark place could also represent many different things for different people like an addiction, but for me the dark place is represented by the Earth that we live on. You have to follow in the right path to leave your own darkness because if you go the wrong way you will just get wrapped back up in the darkness. You have to follow in one direction to get to heaven, and if you go the wrong way then you will just fall back into the wrong things you were doing on Earth. “When the sidewalk ends,” I think means that when your journey is over hopefully you are in the brighter place and not still in darkness. You pass away hopefully you go to heaven, and not to more darkness.
I like the use of Silverstein’s word choice throughout the poem. In line four, he says, “sun burns crimson bright,” this creates a very visual picture to me while I am reading it. I think the sun is shining that bright yellow color with a tint of red, so it makes the color crimson shine bright in the sky. In line six, I also enjoy his word choice. Silverstein mentions, “To cool in the peppermint wind,” this creates the visual image to me of the wind spiraling all around like in a peppermint the colors red and white are spiraled. When he says, "follow the chalk-white arrows,” I feel as he is saying that there is only the one certain way to go, and if you travel in a different path then you will get lost and not make it. When Silverstein says "the children, they know," makes me think that he is saying that you are a child it is easy to follow in that one path toward the good place, but as you get older it is harder to follow that one good path because there are so many other paths toward the bad that you can fall into.
I thought that this poem was very good, and it makes me realize that in life if you try to go to the good side you can make, but you have to turn your back on the darkness and stay on the right path. I also think that is poem is very true in the meaning that I believe it holds because as you get older life only gets more and more complicated. I loved his word choice because it helped me understand the poem a lot better than I normally understand a poem.
My poem analysis is over the poem Brotherhood by Gerry Anderson. This is a poem about addiction and the heartache it can cause. The poem is directed towards addicts and their struggle. The author talks about addicts as being lost in spirit. This poem’s timeframe could be anywhere from the 1960’s to present time because it depicts addicts living on the streets.  To my understanding there has been drug problems in the cities of the United States all during these decades.  The poem refers to people who live on the streets, “begging for favors and pleading for change.”
The poem Brotherhood is structured into 5 stanzas. There is no rhyme or meter in the stanzas of the poem.  At the end of each stanza there is a line that is repeated. The first, third and fourth stanzas have an overall sad mood. The second and fifth stanza have more of hopeful mood. In the second it is hopeful about the children and in the fifth it is hopeful that the addicts turn their life around.
Some examples of imagery in this poem are “streets paved with sadness”, “addicts begging for favors and pleading for change,” “desperation plagues their dark hollow eyes.” Through these words I can see inner city streets with hobos on the sidewalk asking for change with hollow, lifeless eyes.  People with no jobs, drug problems, who are scavenging for food, but given a dollar, they will spend it on drugs.
In the second stanza there is more positive imagery. “Smiles and joy light up their faces with glee, laughter fills the air with song and delight.” This makes me think of happy children playing in the park like you see in movies. Small children running around, chasing birds, and playing on the jungle gym.
The second and last stanzas turn to a more hopeful outlook.  The author talks about “praying for the ones that have given up hope” and “Hope for a future of love, faith and joy.”  Hope is essential for life. Without hope there is nothing to drive you forward.
This poem is kind of dark and depressing.  It is not something I would choose to read on an ongoing basis because I prefer more upbeat and optimistic literature.  I do think that the author was effective in getting his message out since he wrote this poem to “all those near and dear to the lost in spirit.”  I can see that if someone had battled addiction with a loved one or family member this poem might really hit home with them.  Fortunately, I have not had someone in my life that is using or addicted to drugs, so I cannot relate on that level to the poem. Overall I really appreciate this poems message. It sends a very important message about the hardships that people with addictions face everyday.

Sonnet XV: When I Consider Everything That Grows

In Shakespeare's Sonnet XV: When I Consider Everything that Grows, I believe that Shakespeare is quite thoroughly describing his thoughts when he considers all in the universe that grows.  There isn't really definite place the sonnet really a definite place the sonnet takes place and Shakespeare and his thoughts are all that is involved in it.
As far as the structure of the sonnet goes, it has ABAB rhyme scheme with the ending couplet being AA. Shakespeare used personification a lot in this sonnet. Like in lines like "Where wasteful time debateth with decay" and "Whereon the stars in secret influence comment" I think each stanza was very philosophical in and nature and quite deep.
I, like most of Shakespeare's works, greatly enjoyed this sonnet. It was a quite an interesting read.  I highly recommend that you read this sonnet.

Sonnet XV

When I consider every thing that grows
Holds in perfection but a little moment,
That this huge stage presenteth nought but shows
Whereon the stars in secret influence comment;

When I perceive that men as plants increase,
Cheered and cheque'd even by the self-same sky,
Vaunt in their youthful sap, at height decrease,
And wear their brave state out of memory;

Then the conceit of this inconstant stay
Sets you most rich in youth before my sight,
Where wasteful Time debateth with Decay,
To change your day of youth to sullied night;

And all in war with Time for love of you,
As he takes from you, I engraft you new.

Poetry Analysis

Life

I celebrate myself, and sing myself
and what I assume you shall assume
For every atom belonging to me
as good belongs to you.

Walt Whitman

The author is talking about life.  When the author says "I celebrate myself and sing myself" I think he means you should be happy with the way you are.  I agree with him because you should always be happy with yourself.  The author says "what I assume you shall assume."  I think that means you should think alike and have the same ideas someone else has.  I disagree with him because you should think on your own and voice your opinions.  The author says "for every atom belonging to me as good belongs to you."  What I think the author is trying to say is that for every atom in him is a piece of good.  It was a good poem and I enjoyed it.

"My New Best Friend" by Kimberly Kirberger

My New Best Friend

Read Poem here.

The poem "My New Best Friend" by Kimberly Kirberger is a poem about how the best friendship is with yourself.  At the beginning of the poem you would think that it involves two people, but at the end you learn that it only involves one.

The poem has a rhyming pattern, in each stanza, the lines 2 and 4 rhyme.  In the first stanza, the mood is cheerful because when you meet a new friend that is interested in you, you are very excited.  In the second stanza, the mood is kind because she listened to her life problems and dreams.  In the third stanza, the mood is accepted because she never judged her and accepted the way she is.  In the fourth stanza, the mood is patient because she didn't interrupt her or leave.  In the last stanza, the mood is shocked because when she went to give her friend a hug she found out, that it was just a mirror.

I think the poem is about a girl that has no friend, found a girl in her room and sat down and talked to each other.  They talked about her problems and dreams.  The girl listened and didn't judge her when she talked about the problems she dealt with.  She was very patient and didn't interrupt and didn't leave.  She wanted to hug her but she found out that it was only a mirror.

I liked this poem because I relate to it.  When I moved to Odebolt, I didn't feel accepted and I was scared.  I would stay at home and talk to myself in my room because I didn't have many friends.  In the third stanza, the phrase "all the problems I'd been dealt",  I relate to it because when I moved here I had a lot of social problems.  Thant is why I enjoyed this poem.

Poem Analysis-She Walks in Beauty-Lord Byron

"She walks in Beauty"
by Lord Byron

1814

Lord Byron wrote this poem to describe the beauty of his cousin's wife, Mrs. Wilmot.  In the poem, Lord Byron isn't just talking about Mrs. Wilmot's looks, he's also talking about the things around her.  It gives me many visualizations.  Imagine the sun glowing upon someone's face as you stare at them.  Seeing that is beautiful.  It's the little things that can define beauty, and I think Lord Byron is describing this very well.  For instance, "She walks in beauty, like the night."  There is a lot of comparing going on throughout this poem.  Since the poem is written in iambic pentameter, you really feel the flow of the poem, and it's intriguing to read on.  From reading this poem, I feel as though Lord Byron views Mrs. Wilmot as wondrous.  Her innocence draws people in.  All of the different comparisons really help you visualize the aspects of beauty that are trying to be portrayed.  After reading, "Which waves in every raven tress, Or softly lightens o'er her face", it definitely helps me with the understanding.  Many metaphors are used, as well as personification.

It seems as though Mrs. Wilmot, including everything around her, is something that Lord Byron has thought diligently about.  This poem is very simple for me to analyze.  I enjoy all of the visuals, as they give me a better understanding.  I like the way Lord Byron chose to write this poem, not only about Mrs. Wilmot, but also about the indescribable beauty that surrounds us all.

At the end of the first paragraph, Lord Byron is describing many opposites and it starts to set the mood.  The mood I get from this is simplicity.  Mrs. Wilmot's grace is so simple and makes Lord Byron catch glimpses of this beautiful woman.

***The rhyme scheme is: ABABAB ABABAB ABABAB

Suicide in the trenches

“Suicide in the Trenches” by Siegfried Sassoon

Siegfried Sassoon , was an English poet, writer and soldier.  Decorated for bravery on the Western Front, he became one of the leading poets of the WW1.

In the poem Sassoon uses figurative language, descriptive detail, tone and sound to create a powerful impression of the horror of war. War is viewed as intense suffering and destruction of all that is beautiful and innocent. The setting is in depressing, smelly, and stuffy trenches as the title states.

The first stanza of the poem tells of a boy very naive to understanding the true nature of war.  He is carefree and sees nothing bad in life.  The poet describes the boy as happy and simple.  The boy symbolizes  all the guys that went to war for us and lost their lives.

Stanza two presents imagery, which is complete opposite of the descriptive details in stanza one.  The poet makes the reader realize the
hard times the soldier endures and the effects of the war on innocent and simple lives.

Stanza three tells us about the soldiers coming home from war and people not knowing the real torture the soldiers went through. The poem is telling how the war has taken away laughter and youth.

The structure of the poem is three stanzas with four lines in each.  The rhyme scheme is A-A-B-B  in each stanza.  The tone is bitter and sarcastic you can see from the words, “You smug-faced crowds with kindling eye”.

I chose this poem because it is a true fact.  The poet talks about how people lose their lives and their true self in war. Only a soldier could really understand this poem.

Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein (ANALYSIS)

Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein
                    Analysis

This poem is analyzed to be a poem about the beautiful scenery of a beautiful day.  The poem expresses the scenery in a creative and descriptive way of a bright sunny day.
The poem is very deep in description with words that show a lot of detail in depth.  The format he uses is a portion of end rhyme and internal rhyme scheme.  Shel Silverstein uses a lot of words that show a lot of detail in depth. Shel Silverstein chose poetry when he couldn’t play baseball or “good with the ladies.”  Then he realizes he has a gift for words and rhyming.  His poem uses ABCCCB type stanzas.  He uses a lot of words that are very informative and has a huge imagination.  The poem is a happy mood poem in the beginning, then switches gears to a more gloomy, dark mood.  The poem is pretty much a picture replaced with words.  The poem is very descriptive and shows emotion and words like “Bright, flight, peppermint wind.”  Shel Silverstein has a wide vocabulary in his poems, providing a more in depth description in his poems.

In the lines that describes the “peppermint wind” show a very good example of a slap of a cool breeze and smell of fresh air.  The poem shows that life isn’t all always about work and no fun, telling to enjoy life and enjoy the little things.  The poem expresses the simple joys in life that should be enjoyed, because people are always on the move, and never have time to lay back and rest up and enjoy the tranquility of nature summer has to offer.  This could be also referring to technology that has taken over our lives, we are constantly face deep in our electronics and always stressing over our jobs, conflicts, and a hard days work.

The poem really shows how stressful life is and that everyone deserves to relax after a hard day.  I personally thought the poem was a good poem, it had good spirit and did well in bringing his feelings to the reader.  The poet’s full name is Sheldon Allan Silverstein, born on September 25, 1930, and died May 1999.  He was born in Chicago, Illinois.  Shel Silverstein didn’t start off the bat as a writer, he adjusted to it after trying numerous interests of his that never satisfied him completely.  He wrote so many books over the decades.  His interests grew bigger and bigger while he wrote songs and worked with many other famous people.  Shel Silverstein has wowed many people and children with his poems and are still read today.

Full Pull

This poem gives me the feeling of helping others for the same common goal, of getting that sled to the end of the track, and the tractor in one piece. I also have the feeling of the closeness of the crew in good times and in bad. The author used a lot of examples to get the point acrossed as I will use lots of examples in the paragraphs below.
I think the poem, “Full Pull’, is about tractor pulling because it has some clear examples in the poem. For example, “To the tractor rumbling there”, “They hitched the sled”, and also the title of the poem is “Full Pull’ that is a tractor pulling term for when the tractor can go the distance with the sled on.
I used some context in the poem to decide where I thought the poem took place. For example “Folks who fill the stands” and “In a hundred little towns”. So using these examples I think that this is either at a pro tractor pulling circuit, or a state fair, but most likely its at a county fair.
I think that the poem was very easy to interpret when it took place. For example “In the heat” “Twilight turns to night” “Evenings air”. Using these examples I think that these tractor pulls have to be on summer nights or evenings.
This poem showed a lot of character in the people involved for example, “axle broke” “hitched the sled”. The events in the poem involve hooking to the sled on a hot summer night, the hardships of breakdowns but your friends and family always got your back for the goal of getting the Full Pull, and also its not just about the prize or the trophy, it’s more about going the distance with the people that mean the most.
This poem also showed a lot of detail, I could really tell what the poem was saying, I visualized a lot in my head while reading. It also was helpful when you grow up in the setting of hearing the words, “tractor rumbling there” “from the stack, the smoke billowed out” The poem describes the tractor on a hot summer night, with the smell of unburnt diesel, and the black clouds overhead. Also the stands filled with fans, the dirt in the air, and all the helping hands pitching in to help.
One of the coolest things about this poem was the way that the family and friends were very close, and all for the same goal and interests. “It’s about a day spent with your dad” “you heard the shouts of your pals” “forty hands pushed in the mud” There is a lot of people involved, the fans, the officials, your crew, your family, your friends, and the towns themselves.

Forever Connected

This poem is called Forever Connected by Silke Wettergren and it is about two people that are madly in love with each other. They think that they will always love each other and even if they go away or move on, there will always be a part of them that will care and love one another. The author says in the poem that “you are tattooed in my heart and nothing can tear our souls apart.” I think she is saying that there will always be a permanent spot in her heart for her lover.
She also said that “The things that we have shared and learned is permanent growth that we’ve earned,” and I think that she is talking about how they share secrets and talk about themselves to each other and their love grows more and more every time.
I think this poem is really good and it explains what real true love is. The author really brought out the idea that she is in love with someone and no matter what happens, she’ll always love them more than anything.

Joy

Joy
The poem under analysis is called Joy by an unknown author. The poet uses a poetic device called free verse. The poet also capitalizes joy in every sentence that it’s in. This makes the poem lively and honest. The author also uses metaphors such as, “Without Joy the world is colorless and Without Joy the mind is dreamless.”
The author of this poem states that joy, or happiness, is everywhere you go and in everyone you see. Joy is even there when you’re mad or upset. If joy was not present in this life then no one is happy, “Without Joy the world is colorless. Without Joy the mind is dreamless.” When joy is in your life everything is bright and inviting. Some ways of sharing joy is by giving and helping others when they are in need of it. “You can feel Joy by sharing. You can feel Joy by giving.” The author points out that we should “make Joy grow.” I interpret this as you can never have too much joy in your life and you should make every second count.
The overall message in this poem is that you should look at the little things in life and be happy for what you have and share your joy with others. I’ve  come to think that many people are joyful and when you talk to someone that’s always happy and smiling they just make your day a whole lot better. I agree with this author. We should definitely be more joyful in my opinion.

High Heels and Rain Boots

The poem I am analyzing is called High Heels and Rain Boots by Hannah G. In this poem the author uses similes and metaphors. The author also compares high heels and rain boots on how much they are different. The high heels are described as fragile and rare, and the rain boots are described as friendly and comfortable.
In each stanza they are comparing high heels and rain boots to one thing, and on how different they are from each other. When the  author talks about high heels in the first stanza she says how they are a fragile as a tea cup, and she says rains boot are as sturdy as an oak tree. You can see these are two different things she is comparing she also used similes to describe the high heels and rain boots.
When I read this poem it really flowed well and it was easy to read. This poem was okay. It wasn’t the best poem I have read, but it was okay.  The poem just compares two things, nothing really special about it. I picked this poem because it flows together well, and the rain boots remind me as my friends.

Poetry Analysis

Poetry Analysis
My Rescue by Erin
The poem under analysis is My Rescue by Erin. The author of this poem writes about their affection for running. They give life to the track and explain its importance of running to the author.
In the poem My Rescue the author compares the track to magnetic tape. It pulls the author back every day, even on the days they don’t want to. The track is also compared to a person or society. The poem says “It never talks back nor says I’m stupid. Its always there for every stride and every cry.” I think the author may have had trouble with a friend or family member. I think running and the track is the author’s sanctuary, their place to be free and escape the world. “It is the cure to all pain”,here is another example of the tack being their sanctuary.
The author does a lot of figurative language in the poem. “Its like some kind of magnetic tape. Day after day, it pulls me back.” The track is being compared to a magnet. A track can’t literally pull someone back. There isn’t a magnetic field to it. “It cures all pain and the rescue from all fear.” This statement is kind of ironic because running can cause pain, and people run away in fear. The last lines also have figurative language in them. “It never talks back nor says I’m stupid. Its always there for every stride and every cry.” The track can’t literally speak to her.
I really liked this poem for two reasons. One, I actually understood it and know what it’s saying. Two, I am in track and run on the track everyday after school. I don’t think of running as an escape for pain, because it gives me some problems. I don’t really agree with her, but maybe when I’m older running will be my escape. This poem was very good and easy to understand. I believe it gave a powerful message. Their purpose has been fulfilled.

Poem Analysis of A Car

The poem A Car by an unknown author is a poem of a person who doesn’t care what kind of car they have or how fast it goes. The color, extra features or accessories is not a priority to the author. The author will give it “hotly showers”. Whether be it a personalised eight seater stretch limousine or a Ferrari with an exploding roaring engine.
I believe to the author a car is nothing more than a way of transportation.  “I’ll give it hotly showers”, I think he means he will leave it in the sun not worrying about protecting it from the suns harmful rays. “As long as it can move from junction to junction”, the author just wants it to be driveable and reliable.
This poem, to me, is a repetition poem because the author repeats “A car is a car” several times so the reader is informed that a car is nothing special to the author.
I believe this poem was written to show that cars are nothing special. All they do is get you to places faster than walking or riding bikes. “As long as it can move from junction to junction” is a good example of how the writer feels on what the car is supposed to do.

Sonnet Analysis

My Poem Analysis

Italian Sonnet written by James DeFord is the poem being analyzed.  This poem is about a young man trying to convince this girl to give him another chance.  The girl has broken the heart of this writer, and he is begging her to give him another chance with him. This writer is feeling really depressed and alone. This girl turned him down and broke his heart. This story is just him asking the girl to give him another chance and the reasons she should do this.  This poem shows imagery because he said in the poem “give back your kissing breathe” which is like he is asking for her to give back the breath which she used to kiss him with earlier.  He is asking her to come back and kiss him again. The poem continued throughout with the guy begging for a second chance and then one strong last line at the end for his final plea.
This poem has rhyming but has a non distinctive pattern.  The poem’s rhyme pattern is  ABBAACCADEDFAA.  It used a hyperbole in the following words, “ kissing breathe”.  Most of this poem is imagery.  For example, witted roses, kissing breathe, great strength, and broken heart.  The mood is the same in each stanza.  The mood is a mixed feeling of sadness and hopefulness.
I think that this poem is a regular love story like everyday love, but it has much more passion in it.  It takes a lot of courage to try and convince someone to take you back when the final result might not be what you wanted it to be.  I felt the poem was easy to understand because it is a typical love story and the wording was easy, but it came from the heart, and that also helped make it easy to understand.  I think the author should have had a distinctive pattern instead of jumping all over the place.  It would've made the poem more complex and more interesting.  I really liked the topic, and I feel the author has done a good job reflecting his feelings in words.
I enjoyed this poem.  It brought a new element to a love poem by talking about getting one more chance and why that person should take him back.  It was very easy to understand.
I feel depressed sometimes that he missed out at love.  The authors background is that he used to be a cop.  But then he was arrested for child porn, 2 counts of it.  If you read the poem knowing his background, the last four lines really base on his crime.  Him being a cop then becoming a criminal is just sad.  I pick this poem because it was good but knowing his background made me think of the meaning of this poem differently.

Friendship Simile

Friendship Simile

The poem under analysis is “Friendship Simile.”  It is by an anonymous author. The poem compares friendship to a parachute in the form of a simile.  It does not have any rhyme scheme or meter. It is a free verse poem, there is no specific structure. The main simile in the poem “A friend is like a parachute,” which is the first line of the poem.  It goes on the give examples about how the two are alike in the rest of the poem.  The next two lines say “it can’t stop you from falling” and “but it can lighten your landing.”  I think this means that just like a parachute gives you a nice landing when you hit the ground, friends can help you out in your time of need or make things easier for you.
The rest of the poem goes on to say that you have to help your friends just like they help you.  The poem says “Friends may not always be there to lighten your mood, They get old, And grow holes, And wither to nothing more than a memory, Unless  you take care of them.”  I think that the author is trying to say that a friend isn’t always going to be there for you if you aren’t going to be there for them, too.  So the poem ends by saying “Patch the holes, Keep them beautiful because just like friends, parachutes need love.”  So just like a parachute is no good without holes, a friendship doesn’t work holes, or problems either.
I liked the poem.  I never would have thought of a parachute and a friendship being alike, but I like the idea and how the author compared them.  They are both there for you when you need them the most, and they both need to be cared for in return.  I think the poem was pretty good and easy to understand and an all around nice poem.

Love and Hate

Poem Analysis
By Tanner Hemer

The poem under analysis is Love and Hate by an amateur poet, Tyler Tyger. The poem compares the strong feelings of differences in life between “Love” and “Hate,” and paints a picture in your head, using a variety of figurative language, similes and metaphors, of exactly how strong the feelings are.
First of all, the author compares “Love” to many things that appeal to people's senses like a warm summers day, a wildflower that is rare and pretty or even like chocolate - unhealthy but good. Also compares “Hate” to things that people just dread to think about such as hate being compared to a jail cell being cold and strange, a black hole consuming all that is good and even like a roaring fire. The first simile the author uses is “Love is like a warm summers day, down by the meadow, ready to play. Hate is like a bitter winter night, frost bite creeping through the windows biting your toes.” This shows the general idea how people tend to enjoy summer days and nights with warm weather more than the cold winter nights that you seem to be able to feel at night. The comparisons give you the strength of both love and hate that can fulfill a life. Another simile used is “Hate is like a hurricane, rough, unruly and painful” and it speaks strongly because so much can be lost in a hurricane. Whether it is family members, friends, a town or just personal belongings that are lost hate can also do the same things and destroy so many friendships or others turn their back to you because what you’ve done. Hate does absolutely no good!
I think that the feelings of “Love” and “Hate” were described perfectly and how one moment love can make you feel like you are on top of the world and nothing could bring you down, but then that moment turns to hate it is like “a dull day, never fading away”. You live with the feeling of hate longer than the feeling of love can keep you atop. I enjoyed the poem and the poet did a fantastic job describing how strong feelings can be in both “Love” and “Hate”.

War and Peace

By Cam T

The poem War and Peace by Cam T. is about someone who doesn't like war because they see it as a fire, destruction, and a murder. The mood of the poem is mostly sad. I think this because the last line states, "my mind forces me to war, but my heart desires peace". Which I think means that he wants peace, but he's kind of sad or maybe mad that war seems to be the only way to do so.
This poem doesn’t follow any particular rhyme scheme but throughout the poem some alternate rhyme does occur. War and Peace uses mostly similes throughout the poem.

Some similes were, “peace is like a puzzle, confusing, tough to complete”. I think this stanza means that finding peace is very hard to do. There is always some sort of disagreement or dispute that is hard to overcome. Another simile is, “war is like destruction, peace is the ability to cope”. This means to me that war tends to ruin everything in its path. It destroys people, land, and other things. But peace is the only thing that keeps some going in a war. It is seen that war is the only way to obtain peace which helps some cope with the point that innocent people are dying just because of this war. They see peace as your reason to keep going.

Another stanza states, “peace is like a lion, majestic but trapped in a cage”. I think this means that peace can be very powerful like a lion, but during war it seems like it’s impossible to get, like it’s “trapped in a cage”.
Another simile in this poem is, “war is as dark as murder, killing everyday.” I think this means that war is really no different than murder. You may kill people in war for a different reason than why people commit murder, but in the end, innocent people are being killed.

One stanza states, “my mind forces me to war, but my heart desires peace”. I think this means that even people serving in the war may not like what they do really, but they realize that they are doing it for a reason. Even though a lot of the time they just want peace among everyone.

I personally liked this poem because it reminds you of what is going on in the world that you probably don’t even think about. It makes you think about how there are people out there fighting for your freedom even though they might not like everything about their job. This is something I think a lot of us take for granted.
